About
We are an informal Mentoring club for Software Entrepreneurs (Ents) and we are passionate about building software-enabled businesses. The best of us use online tools and work strange hours via multile online communities, including this one. We laugh at geeky jokes, we don't like sterile corporate cubicles and we are all very smart and interesting, except Shad of course, Shad is only semi-interesting. :)
EntMent operates as a collection of regional clubs, each managed by its own membership of Ents and Ments, and each using a GroupBuild process to help package up Ents to attract: Cofounders, Ments, Partners, Customers and Investors.
The GroupBuild process means we don't just have fun, we also focus our efforts around those of us who get stuff done.
EntMent can be a bit elitist, but we must be, we don't want to waste each others' time. Anyone can be a dreamer, Ents must also be doers.
Our regional monthly meetups are a place to help and be helped, typically in a relaxed but not necessarily unhurried manner. A sense of urgency radiates from those with a business vision, and their enthusiasm is contagious. We exercise this goodwill by practicing how we pitch our visions, by demonstrating our solutions and by testing our ideas on each other.
EntMent also hosts other EntMent Events, such as seminars, dinners, etc. The Annual Demofest Unconference is open to anyone, and it is typically held in a University commons area, with enough computer workstations to accommodate hundreds of concurrent presentations and "cluster demos".
Our club has a NOT-FOR-PROFIT charter, which means nobody gets paid around here. Everyone is a volunteer. Please respect that. It sucks when people take advantage, so please remember we are a sociable club and please don't be more interested in taking than giving.
"It is better to have one person working with you than three people working for you."
